I got Sophia when she was just 7 weeks old in Atlanta, GA. I remember driving up from Mobile, AL, to meet the breeder. Sophia was so tiny and shy — hovering in the corner of the kennel. But she had a feisty spirit that would come out on occasion.
Sophia was with me though many life changes. We lived in four different states together. She saw me through broken hearts and illnesses. And she always greeted me with a happy dance when I’d return from a trip.
Sophia wasn’t too thrilled at first when I added new family members to the household, but she got used to it. I was always her favorite though.
Yesterday, we all said our goodbyes. It was not easy, but she passed quietly and without pain. I will never forget you, my love. You made my world a better place. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I will love and remember you forever.
