Family Fun Days: June 4-5

Disclosure: I received free admission to Playtime Pizza in exchange for promoting AR Family Fun Days. However, prostate all opinions expressed her are my own.

Playtime PizzaThere’s a lot of good research out there about the benefits of families spending time together – how it builds confidence in kids, dysentery encourages a healthy lifestyle, breast etc.  The goal of Arkansas Family Fun Days is to create an opportunity for families to get out of the house and experience something new and fun together. Playtime Pizza

I spent yesterday celebrating my birthday at Playtime Pizza, one of the participating attractions. Playtime Pizza is a 70,000 square foot indoor family entertainment center. My parents, my brother and his family, and my family were there for the fun — and we all had a blast! Not only does Playtime Pizza have a great selection of pizza, pasta, salad, desserts and more, it has games that appeal to kids of all ages. (And I got to act like I’m 8 instead of 48!)

Please take advantage of the savings this weekend and go enjoy some family time. These are memories that you and your kids won’t forget. And it’s the perfect way to start off your summer!

Big thanks to Tiffany, Playtime Pizza general manager, and all the Playtime Pizza staff for their hospitality yesterday. You were so kind and made my birthday party a smashing success. Thank you!

Icepocalyse Ornament Craft Project

Snowed or iced in with nothing to do? Make ornaments! That’s what we did on Friday. I anticipated the bad weather, viagra and having three girls to entertain, capsule I planned ahead and bought the clear glass ornaments at Michael’s the day before.

Gather up crayons (Crayola work best — don’t use the cheap kind as they don’t melt as well.)

Add a few small pieces of various colors to the ornament (remember red and green make brown) and add heat from a hair dryer. It gets hot, viagra order so I put on a glove. Move the ornament around to get the desired swirly design on the ornament.

Finished products — we were all quite impressed with ourselves.

Rock Town Distillery Tour

2013-11-07 18.48.18-2**As part of a recent Arkansas Women Bloggers event, bulimics I participated in a free tour and tasting courtesy of Rock Town Distillery. I was given a free bottle of bourbon, but all opinions and recommendations in this post are my own.**

Last week I was invited along with other Arkansas Women Bloggers to a private tour of Rock Town Distillery in Little Rock. Arkansas. Rock Town is the first legal distillery in Arkansas since the prohibition. And wow, it was worth the wait! Here is a list of their awards/honors so far:

* Top 25 Craft Distillery Tours in the US
* One of  ”three non-Kentucky bourbons to keep an eye on” — Tasting Panel Magazine
* “Exceptional – Gold Medal” for their Arkansas Young Bourbon and their Hickory Smoked Whiskey — Beverage Tasting Institute in Chicago

And I’m sure that’s just the beginning of the praise. After all, this distillery is just three years old. 2013-11-07 17.28.22-2Phil Brandon, an Arkansas native, founded the company in 2010. Brandon’s Vodka and Brandon’s Gin were his first creations. Both products won awards their first year out in 2011. Then Phil moved to aged products. Rock Town has 12 spirits now. A brown barrel aged gin is the next product out (this week in fact).

Our tour guide, Josh, was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this place. He told us that all the grains used in Rock Town spirits are grown right here in Arkansas — in Weiner, Arkansas, as a matter of fact. (My mom is from Weiner!)

2013-11-07 18.09.34-1 Phil and company’s dedication to all things Arkansas made my heart proud. Even the barrels are from our state — made in Hot Springs from Arkansas wood.

2013-11-07 18.25.12-2If this blog only had smell-o-vision — this room smelled divine.

2013-11-07 18.54.10-2Rock Town Distillery has “bottling parties” — volunteers gather with drinks and pizza and bottle the spirits by hand. You can sign up on their website. (I just did!) And if you want to buy an interesting local gift, you really should consider some spirits from Rock Town Distillery.

2013-11-07 17.43.29-1I tried several combos, and my favorite so far is lemonade mixed with the Blackberry Cobbler Arkansas Lightning. So good!
